Opportunities for Churches and Youth Groups

Northlands Rescue Mission is an arm of the local church, so we encourage local congregations, Bible studies, adult Sunday school groups and youth groups (with teens 16 years and older) to participate in our ministry to the homeless. Here are a few opportunities for your church:

Become a Church Ambassador and be the liaison between the Mission and your congregation, relaying needs, coordinating drives and sharing moving stories of lives changed through your church's efforts.

Walk Alongside Our Residents. Provide chapel services, discipleship, mentoring, teaching, spiritual guidance or counseling.

Feed the Hungry. Purchase, prepare and serve a meal for our hungry guests, then clean up afterward, or donate assembled sack lunches for the weekend.

Adopt a Room. Decorate a guest’s room with wall hangings, paint, bedding, curtains and furnishings to make it feel more like home.

Coordinate Special Events. Assist with annual fundraisers and awareness events.

Sponsor a Drive. We have lots of fun drives you and your congregation can sponsor that will provide the Mission with essentials like food and clothing. To find out more, click here.

Schedule a Speaker. Invite one of our staff members to speak during a worship service, at a Sunday school class or during youth group.

The Great Sleep Out. Every wonder what it's like to have no place to sleep except a tent or a cardboard box? Find out—while impacting the lives of the hungry and homeless—by joining the Mission for The Great Sleep Out. This overnight event features dinner, a Mission tour, testimonies, Christian music and more.
