Small Investment Reaps Big Return

Does it seem like a dollar doesn't go very far anymore? It won't buy you a cup of gourmet coffee or a gallon of gas, but at Northlands Rescue Mission, $1 can help change a life forever.

                       

Hundreds of men and women turn to Northlands Rescue Mission for assistance every month. Some are struggling with mental and physical illnesses or addictions . . . still more are on the edge of homelessness . . . and others are already on the streets. But you can help transform their lives with an investment of as little as $1 day for the 90 days of summer. That's all it takes to help us provide the homeless and hurting with food, shelter, clothing, spiritual guidance and case management . . . and a chance to start life anew.

We need your partnership right now more than ever before, because the need has never been greater.

The number of meals we serve has increased by nearly 12 percent the past two years, from 5,855 meals a month to 6,551. This summer, when kids are home from school, we expect to serve an additional 100 meals a month! During that same time period, the demand for shelter has risen 17 percent—we're providing 2,660 beds a month now! Here in our 21-county service area, the number of people in need doesn't decrease when the weather turns warm because that's often when landlords evict those behind on their rent.

To make things even more challenging during the summer months, giving to the Mission drops off by 45 percent!

During June, July and August, it will cost $50,000 a month to operate the Mission—$150,000 for those three months alone! Somehow, we must cover this cost, with 45 percent less income.

As you can see, we truly need your help. Your investment of $1 a day for 90 days of summer will help us fight poverty and bring a big return: The hungry will be fed, the homeless sheltered and the lost will find new life in Christ.
